Sistina Chapiteau is a traveling theater of the famous Teatro Sistina: the musical goes mobile
Anceschi Alberto e Paolo is proud to present a project that has already gained significant recognition: the Sistina Chapiteau, a traveling theater designed to be the extension of the famous Teatro Sistina in Rome, created to bring the grand machinery of roman musical comedy to other italian cities. The Sistina inherits the appearance, colors, and atmosphere of the permanent Teatro Sistina in Rome, but that’s not all…
The structure must also ensure the same comfort as a theater of exceptional size. It features 1,500 seats, excellent visibility from every tier, and is equipped with comfortable chairs exclusively provided by us.
Milan: the first stop
After the first setup in Milan, under the patronage of the Municipality, the debut took place in December 2023 with the musical Cats. In the spring, the structure hosted some of the most beloved shows from the Italian and international musical repertoire: Il Marchese del Grillo, Matilda, and Billy Elliot the Musical, all accompanied by live orchestras, grand scenic arrangements, and choreography featuring dozens of dancers and singers. Now, in Sesto San Giovanni, the theater is preparing to launch the 2024-2025 season. Afterward, it will move to other cities in northern and southern Italy, including the islands.
The structure of the Sistina Chapiteau
A project we shaped and brought to life in 3 months, complete with a 12×24 meter foyer for the bar and a second 10×20 meter foyer for the artists’ dressing rooms.
The main tent’s antennas stand 25 meters tall with a 60×60 cm section; the framework supporting the Sistina Chapiteau sign is 16 meters high; the central, round dome has a diameter of 2.45 meters.
The total material figures give a sense of the structure’s scale: 130 meters of trusses, 1,600 meters of iron poles, 500 stakes, and 25 trucks to transport all the materials. It typically takes 2 weeks to assemble the entire structure.
